Academic Visitors will eligible for the following on-campus privileges after registering with the AVO and obtaining their ONEcard.

Visiting and Exchange Professors:  

On-campus access to licensed resources (databases, e-journals, e-books), using Guest Computing ID/Password provided by your host department.

Term loan on University of Alberta Libraries book and periodical collection, using your ONEcard, and free interlibrary loan requesting.  See Borrowing Privileges - UAlberta: Students, Academics & Staff and How does Interlibrary Loan work? for details.

Research Award Recipients, Self-Funded Researches and Business Visitors:

On-campus access to licensed resources (databases, e-journals, e-books), using Guest Computing ID/Password provided by your host department.

Two week loan on University of Alberta Libraries book and periodical collection using your ONEcard, and interlibrary loan requesting for a fee.  See Borrowing Privileges - Members of the Public and Interlibrary Loan for Alumni/Visitors for details.

All Other Visitors:

All other visitors to UAlberta are eligible to register for a library card.  Please visit the Rutherford Library service desk.

*Sport & Recreation Opt-in

A visitor membership may be obtained for the Van Vliet Centre. A letter of authorization is required from the host academic unit (see sample below).

U-Pass/LRT/ETS Access

If you require the use of the LRT or ETS (bus), you may purchase tickts, passes or pay per ride.

Academic Visitors cannot use their ONECards to ride the LRT at no charge between South Campus and Royal Alexandra Hospital stations.

Academic Visitors also cannot obtain a U-Pass. 
The U-Pass is non-transferable and may only be used by the Student to whom the U-Pass is issued

Online access to library resources: You may access library subscriptions (databases, e-journals, e-books) on campus. Use your Guest Computing ID & Password provided by your host department, or a daily Temporary Network ID provided by the library (see details). When using wireless, use the UWS network. Due to licensing restrictions, off-campus access to library subscriptions is not possible.
